Position Summary:

Manage assets (used aircraft for Trade-in or otherwise) which includes inspections, maintenance, condition/airworthiness validation, and appraisals for Airbus Helicopters, Inc. (AHI) ensuring that revenue is generated without a negative profit margin. Oversee and manage helicopters that Airbus Helicopters may lease periodically. Utility Segment Sales (USS) shall include segment prospecting, specific opportunities for sales growth, and recommendations for action needed within AHI for capturing Utility Sales that increases revenue and market share. The USS Manager shall use all available resources to be the utility segment expert and shall provide guidance and marketing advice and strategy related to this sales segment supporting the Regional Sales Managers.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Utility Sales and Management: 40%

  • Identify and pursue utility market segment prospects, developing those prospects through the sales stages: prospect, qualify, develop, negotiate, and book helicopters for the utility market segment:
  • Understand the utility segment fleet by age, manufacturer, and sales opportunity/probability;
  • Identify new and existing customers to pursue;
  • Develop prospects through the sales stages (in concert with AHI RSM's);
  • Prospect and Forecast within a three-year period maintaining activity in Salesforce.
  • Gather and analyse market specific data that identifies new concepts in the application of helicopters, trends in the marketplace, agencies using helicopters and those prospects considering the use of helicopters for the utility segment mission;
  • Establish and maintain a close relationship and effective rapport with key figures in the utility market community;
  • Represent AHI and take lead over Utility Segment events throughout the year.
  • Evaluate the performance and features of AHI's product line and how they compare to competitive models;
  • Support the Regional Sales Managers in their sales efforts by assisting with product sales presentations, demonstrations and market segment aircraft configurations for prospective customers;
  • Develop and initiate sales campaigns in response to and with focus on market changes in coordination with the RSM's and Sales/Marketing Management;
  • Develop Market Segment Sales strategy and assist with determining resources and financing required to achieve that strategy.
  • Coordinate flight demonstrations and demonstration tours based on requirements of the helicopter sales process for specific customers. To be coordinated with the Head of Marketing and Sales Senior Management.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for asset management and Utility Segment Sales including attendance at necessary conference and training seminars or the like;
  • As Utility Segment Subject Matter Expert, update the Sales and Marketing Team on emerging market opportunities, trends, usage needs, and industry technology and operational changes;

2. Management of Used Aircraft in Support of New Helicopter Sales: 35%

  • Evaluate trade-in aircraft in support of new helicopter sale;
  • Manage trade-in of used aircraft throughout the complete transaction: evaluation, due diligence, resale; any maintenance which might be required; advertising, and closing on the resale;
  • Maintain report with AHI Service Centers and Reseller Network for the purpose of dispatching used assets;
  • Preparation of necessary Gate Reviews and attendance in support of disposition of the used aircraft;
  • Reports as instructed information to AH Asset Management team to ensure proper communications;
  • Maintain weekly up-to-date prospect summaries through Salesforce.

3. Management of other used aircraft: 15%

  • Provide management of used aircraft which are retained as inventory;
  • Responsible for selling AHI used aircraft as required including complete management of the sales process;
  • Coordinating activities to ensure used aircraft inventory (not in use by other departments) is maintained and prepared for onward sale
  • Maintenance work scope through AHI Service Center network;
  • Tracking of costs;
  • Ensure aircraft is always ready for sale or viewing by a potential customer.
  • As required due to customer relationship management, assist customers with disposition of used aircraft not associated directly with the sale of a new helicopter

4. Manage helicopter leases: 5%

  • Advise, build business cases, draft agreement for helicopter leasing that are necessary to sell a new aircraft;
  • Manage leases and monitor terms and conditions of the lease between parties;
  • Determine residual value calculations to be used in lease arrangements and for negotiation

5. Additional Responsibilities: 5%

  • Train others in asset management;
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

  • BS Degree in Marketing, Management, Business, or similar field; or equivalent experience;

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Maintain good customer and AHI interdepartmental relationships
  • Strong Background in helicopter maintenance

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • English - fluently spoken and written to be able to carry a conversation and negotiate;
  • Ability to speak French, Spanish, or German is preferred.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Microsoft Office
  • Salesforce

Travel Required:

  • 50% Domestic and International

Decision Making, Complexity:

  • Primary role is to ensure that Airbus Helicopters generates revenue and positive margins through the new and used sales and leasing of helicopters. This is accomplished by dialogue with all stakeholders in the organizations and with customers. This position is highly autonomous but does require interaction with senior management as necessary to finalize strategy and determine pricing thresholds. It requires a significant amount of discipline and self-motivation.

  • Manage maintenance and completions/refurbishment as required on used aircraft;
  • Manage budget for necessary work related to the sale of used aircraft.
