We're looking for a Manufacturing Support Technician

12 Month Temporary Contract

Position Location: Fort Erie, ON

 

This is a 12 month contract (temporary) position reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Manufacturing. 

The Manufacturing Project Technicians will work within the team structure to develop and update Manufacturing Instruction Documents (MIDs) in full compliance with drawings and specifications (EI / IFMA).  They may also create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with known standard practices and customer's specifications.

 In the approval of MIDs and SOPs, the Manufacturing Support Technician will follow the process on the production floor, review and correct any discrepancies found.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 Project Management

  • Create core documentation for production work (MIDs).
  • Update core documentation for production work (MID).
  • Validate core documentation with stakeholders (quality, planning, purchasing and tooling).

Continuous Improvement

  • Support and participate in all Continuous Improvement initiatives of AHCA as it relates to MIDs/SOPs.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure a safe working environment for yourself and all employees
  • Complete actions / tasks coming from a Health and Safety audit or hazard report.

 

EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Industrial / Manufacturing) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum of 1 years working experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working understanding of production control functions (BOMs, routings).
  • Experience reading aerospace parts drawings (layup, assembly).
  • Experience in reading Engineering specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • AutoCAD, CATIA V5 an asset.
  • Lean Manufacturing and 5S Principles and Practice.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of finished products.
  • Customer centric philosophy, recognizing internal and external customer service requirements.
  • Ability to record and organize information, files, data, etc. in an ordered, logical, systematic fashion for use by production personnel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross functional environment.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specification and standards.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Deadline driven, accountable and able to work under pressure.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Manufacturing Support Technician performs all job responsibilities indoors in both and office environment and a manufacturing environment.  This may involve long periods of time standing, observing, documenting and may be exposed to sharp tools, dust, noises, heat, humidity and solvents.  While performing tasks some bending and crouching may occur.  The use of hands/fingers are required for computer data entry.
