We're looking for an Aircraft Assembly Technician AME

Position Location: Fort Erie, ON

The Aircraft Assembly Technician - AME reports directly to the Supervisor, Aircraft Completions and is responsible for assembling aircraft and the mechanical aspects of installations or options, conducting ground or flight tests, inspecting and maintaining company or customer owned aircraft, and following appropriate maintenance practices and standards such as Transport Canada and Airbus Helicopter Canada Ltd. Procedures.

 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 Assemble Aircraft and Mechanical Portion of Installations/Options

  • Assemble aircraft and install options and STC kits to meet the customers' requirements.
  • Ensure work is carried out efficiently and with appropriate maintenance practices and standards (e.g. aircraft maintenance manuals, Transport Canada regulations and AHCA standards) and is done so in a safe manner.
  • Ensure problems or required changes are brought to the attention of the department's supervisor, Quality Assurance, or Engineering in a timely manner to prevent delays in delivery.
  • In addition to formal training, maintain currency and updating of knowledge through self-study.                                                                                               

Conduct Ground or Flight Tests

  • Carry out post maintenance ground run and test flights including rotor track and balance.
  • Verify engine and aircraft operating parameters are within specified range.
  • Verify correct operation of all installed equipment for aircraft delivery.

Inspection of Company/Customer Aircraft

  • Carry out scheduled maintenance and inspections.
  • Complete unscheduled maintenance (hard landing, rotor over speed etc.) inspections as required

 EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • College Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance
  • AME License required
  • Five (5) years' aircraft maintenance experience
  • Field experience maintaining Airbus products is an asset
  • Twin engine experience is an asset
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, instructions, and manuals
  • Able to follow instructions and standards for product quality and report non-conformances and quality concerns
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and take independent action and judgement in day to day circumstances
  • Able to identify problems during assembly process
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Consistently follow company/industry safety regulations and guidelines; offer solutions, report concerns and proactively engage in product and personal safety
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Aircraft Assembly Technician AME job responsibilities and tasks are both performed indoors and outdoors. The incumbent may be exposed to extreme hot/cold temperatures, wind, rain, or snow when working outdoors. Works in high altitudes while aboard aircraft. Job duties may also involve awkward body positions, moving of heavy objects, slippery surfaces, and emotional stress due to job complexity at times. For the most part of the day, the incumbent in this position will be standing with frequent walking and twisting/bending of the back, knees, elbows, and wrists. Also, some sitting, climbing, and lifting/carrying (20 lbs. to 80 lbs.) using floor to waist and waist to shoulder movements is required. Frequent use of hands/fingers as many of the job activities involve applying pressure, gripping and pinching, repetitious movements, using non powered and powered hand tools, and finger dexterity and precision tasks.
