Position Summary: 

Performs assigned work in support of the Dynamic Component Shop.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Overhaul: 50%

  • Disassembly of Components
  • Cleaning of aircraft parts.
  • Reworks parts for the Overhaul process
  • Inspects parts for continued airworthiness
  • Assembles parts for repair or overhaul

2. FOD/Tool Control: 30%

  • Inventory toolbox daily
  • Reporting missing items
  • Verifying calibrations are current
  • Area clean of foreign objects

3. Uses Maintenance Manuals: 20%

  • Refers to Manuals (electronic/paper) to determine rework limitations
  • Refers to Manuals (electronic/paper) proper cleaning methods
  • Refers to Manuals (electronic/paper) to determine how to dis-assemble components

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 

Education:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred:

  • Some trade school or technical training,

Experience:

Required: 

  • Minimum four (4) years of mechanical skill experience. 

Licensure/Certifications:

Required:

  • None

Preferred:

  • FAA Airframe Certificate or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required:

  • Read, Write, and Understand the English language

Preferred:

  • Bi-lingual French or German is desirable

Technical Systems Proficiency:

Preferred:

  • Competent in Microsoft Office Systems such as Excel, Word, etc.

Travel Required:

  • Less than 10% Domestic and International

Citizenship:

  • Authorized to Work in the US

Clearance:

  • None

Decision Making, Complexity:

  • Assesses items for repair or scrap
  • Prepares reports to the status of reparable or scrapped parts
  • Suggests and Requests repair actions from the appropriate design office through the use of Webtek or other programs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite: 90%
  • Vision: able to see and read a computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports, and engineering drawings Daily
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily
  • Speaking:  able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information, and participate in communications.  Daily
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts Daily
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs Daily
  • Lifting:  able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily
  • Pushing / Pulling:  able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Daily
  • Sitting:  able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on a computer. Daily
  • Squatting / Kneeling:  able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor  Daily
  • Travel:  able to travel independently and at short notice. Possible once or twice a year.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents):  able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily
  • Personal Protective Equipment required:  Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by the site and/or customer site
