Position Summary: 

The Head of IM Industry Solutions is, within IM Airbus North America (USA, Canada and Mexico) in charge of a key IM business domain dealing with Programs, Manufacturing (shop floor, FAL), Supply Chain, Logistics and Quality business functions across the region. 

 

Responsible for:  

  • Customer facing and customer relationship activities for all Airbus commercial, Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Defense & Space Programs, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics and Quality business functions 
  • Understanding the strategy and the challenges of those business functions
  • Aligning IM strategy with the business strategy and developing appropriate roadmaps for future IM solutions and services
  • Participating into the governance bodies of those functions
  • Executing the IM strategy and related roadmaps by designing and implementing industry solutions in North America in line with Airbus overall standards as defined in Europe or in the frame of the IM Roof
  • Supporting all applications used in North America by these business functions
  • Promoting and deploying state of the art digital solutions in the manufacturing domain

 

In addition to the Industry Solutions domain lead, the Job Holder is also the local IM Business Partner for Airbus Helicopters North America (AHNA) and so responsible for: 

  • Defining the IM strategy for the Helicopters Division in the region in line with the overall IM strategy in the North America region and in Europe
  • Setting-up annual IM objectives and ensuring adherence to them throughout the year
  • Running the AHNA IM Master Plan (IMPP) as part of the overall IM North America Master Plan and defines the priority projects in close liaise with AHNA EXCOM
  • Steering of all AHNA IM projects (as defined by the IMMP) in the region
  • Ensuring the overall IM performance towards AHNA including Service Levels and budget adherence.  Ensures AHNA representation in SLA Negotiations with the respective internal and external service providers
  • Managing the IM team in Grand Prairie, Columbus and Fort Erie 

 

This position has operational responsibility for the Industry Solutions and related staff located in the various Airbus North America sites: Herndon, Ashburn, Washington DC, Miami (3 sites), Atlanta (2 sites), Mobile (2 sites), Wichita, Grand Prairie (2 sites), San-Diego, Columbus, Fort-Erie, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Mexico City (3 sites), Queretaro

 

The Job Holder is end-to-end accountable in front of the customers of the services delivered by IM towards those customers. 

 

This position has operational responsibility for Industry Solutions and related internal and external staff required to deliver the projects and services to the business. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. People Management: 30%
  • Leads and manages the IM team in charge of designing, developing, maintaining and supporting Industry Solutions and accordingly recommends employee actions including hiring, promotion, transfer and discharge
  • Plans and directs department staffing, performance and employee development
  • Leads and manages external workforce (subcontractors and suppliers) required to deliver the projects and services

 

  1. Projects Delivery: 30%
  • Manage on time, on costs and on quality IM programs and projects that are in the scope of the IM Industry Solutions domain by using appropriate methodology (waterfall, fast track, agile, SAFe)
  • Partner with the business on one side and infrastructure teams on the other side to ensure proper design and implementation of Industry products/solutions in the frame of local, division wide or group wide initiatives
  • Ensure that projects deliver the appropriate business value (savings, efficiency, business growth.)

 

  1. Products Development Maintenance & Support: 20%
  • Responsible for designing, developing, deploying and supporting local application products fulfilling local business needs
  • Responsible for deploying and supporting Industry application products that are centrally developed in Europe within the mother companies into the North America Industry Solutions domain
  • Responsible for guaranteeing end-to-end services lifecycle management according to agreed SLAs established with the various business functions
  • Liaise with the business and IM teams back in Europe to contribute to the design/development of new products and prepare the deployment and support of those products 
  • Liaise and synchronize with the IM infrastructure team to ensure smooth deployment and appropriate level of performance of the end-to-end services
  • Organize and plan deployment activities with the support of the related staff

 

  1. Planning and Budgeting: 10%
  • Work with Industry Business Functions to understand their Business Strategy and their future Business Requirements in order to develop a proper IM Master Plan in line with the Business Strategy
  • Develop a Products and Services portfolio for the Industry domain along with appropriate workload and costs estimations
  • Identify and capture with the support of IM Governance and IM Cybersecurity license requirements and security requirements and associated costs
  • Collaborates with group and divisional counterparts to understand and align support requirements for Industry Solutions where possible
  • Works with the Head of IM and the IM management team to identify opportunities for innovation, synergies, cost savings, and service quality improvement
  • Manages overall Industry Solutions domain budget

 

  1. Compliance: 10%
  • Ensure compliance to Airbus group standards and methodology 
  • Collaborates with global Airbus IM counterparts to develop and improve standards

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • In the frame of the IM Business Partner role, actively participates to Airbus Helicopters Inc. leadership team meetings in order to better understand and support AHI challenges and activities

 

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 

Education:

Required: 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

Experience:

Required:

  • minimum 10 years of experience in application design, development and support in the manufacturing environment
  • minimum 5 years of Program/Project Management experience in the manufacturing environment
  • minimum 5 years of experience in people management
  • Proven experience in planning and controlling capital and operational budgets              
  • Understanding of Airbus IM standards, projects and services methodologies and procedures
  • Knowledge of IT supplier landscape in North America is a plus 
  • Experience in working with multicultural teams

  • Broad knowledge of the Aerospace & Defense industry sector
  • Knowledge of several business processes around manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and quality
  • Knowledge in software solutions such as ERP (SAP), Analytics, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • In depth Knowledge of SAP functional and technical and basis systems required. 
  • Expertise in one or more areas of SAP SD, MM, FI, CO, PS, SM is required
  • High level of inter-personal and leadership skills are required.

Job Dimensions, Contributions to Success:

  • At least 100 applications to deploy, maintain and support for a population of more than 2000 engineers and/or blue collars across Airbus Americas, Inc., Airbus Helicopters, Inc., Airbus Defense & Space Inc. in various sites: 
    • Mobile, Grand Prairie, Columbus, Mexico City, Queretaro and Fort Erie 
  • Staff of around 20 30  people (employees, contractors and subcontractors)
  • This position has budget responsibility for all of North America IM Industry Solutions activities: $10-15M
  • This position has the responsibility of being the IM Lead for Industry Solutions domain
    • Must ensure alignment of the IM team with Divisional Management
    • Must interface with the Heads of Business Functions (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics and Quality)
    • Responsible for end-to-end IM Services delivery

Nature of Contacts:

  • This position has a permanent need for communication towards Airbus North America leadership team including the CIO and the CEO and to the IM employees across the region but also with IM externals and service providers
  • This position must maintain a state of art customer relationship and customer satisfaction with Heads of Business Functions in the various entities (SVP and VP levels)
  • This position must also interact at VP level with IM providers during Call for Tenders or during projects and services reviews.
